Iraq 5 years after invasion

W carries on with the party line, and refuses to cede an inch. Were he more believable, or the effort an honest one, that would be admirable. He isn't, it isn't, and it isn't.

Bush strongly signaled that he won't order troop withdrawals in Iraq beyond those already planned because he refuses to "jeopardize the hard-fought gains" of the past year. Antiwar demonstrations in Washington and San Francisco marked the fifth anniversary of the U.S. invasion. (Bush's remarks)

Oy. 5 years. Cheney's expectations that the US would "be greeted with open arms" sure was off the mark.
