Uncle Sam bails out Fan and Fred

A huge bailout: the Treasury guarantees $200 billion in the long term to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. There are doubts and risks, of course. Markets around the world are rallying today. But the jury is out on whether Hank Paulson waited far too long to do something.
