U.S. Moves Against Top Mexican Drug Cartel

In the Mexican newspaper El Universal's website, this photo appeared, with the caption: CAEN 750 NARCOS DE SINALOA Autoridades de EU desmantelaron una red que operaba en 26 estados. Entre lo decomisado, 60 millones de dólares, 12 toneladas de cocaína y aeronaves 750 Narcos from Sinaloa fall. US authorities dismantled a network that operated in 26 states. Among the decommissioned, $60 million, 12 tons of cocaine, and aircraft.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said Wednesday that drug cartels “pose a sustained, serious threat” to the United States.

Calling Mexican drug trafficking organizations “a national security threat,” Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. announced Wednesday that federal authorities had mounted their biggest assault against one of Mexico’s most powerful drug cartels.

I saw some of a news conference that AG Eric Holder held, along with the Acting Administrator Michele M. Leonhart of the DEA. The story in El Universal speaks of 60 millones de dólares, 12 toneladas de cocaína, whilst the NY Times story speaks of $59.1 million and 13 tons of cocaine.
