Kiefer Sutherland returns as Jack Bauer in “24,” the Fox series, whose eighth season is centered in New York. The two-part premiere is being broadcast on Sunday at 9 p.m. and Monday at 8 p.m.

Without stretching the point too far, this is one reason for the continuing lack or realism in people's views on the real world. This series is a continuation of the mind-set that the good guys, the (North) American good guys, can and will always vanquish the bad guys. Nonsense.
