A nightmare, and a daydream

Two stories illustrate the major risk face by, and damage done to, the US financial system by a lack of responsible risk management by financial institutions greedily feeding at the through, and the absolute imbecility and lack of realism by the president of the US.

The dangers:
World Panel Urges Risk Disclosure - The world's top financial authorities urged financial institutions to fully expose their risks to bring about the return of financial market confidence.

The fantasy:
Consumer confidence is on the skids, yet President Bush in his weekly radio address remained optimistic that tax rebates and help for homeowners will jump-start the economy.

Oy.
