On the financial front

One analyst sees hyper-inflation. Larry Edelson, of Real Wealth Report, has a good track record in making money, which means he has analyzed economic conditions corrently, but his views seem somewhat extreme. Nonetheless, one must not dismiss viewpoints contrary to one's wishes; it pays to be prudent.

Real Wealth's most recent issue headlines its position with shattering simplicity: "Even though the subprime crisis and recession deepening...U.S. economy now getting hit by eight inflationary forces." Real Wealth Report [sic] basic point is critical: "The United States is headed not toward deflation but to its polar opposite, hyperinflation." Needless to say, Real Wealth Report's portfolios are heavily into gold and natural resources with some emerging-markets exposure.

Past performance, of course, doesn't guarantee anything in the future, but it is worth looking at an analyst's track record.
